Pinchina Consulting started off as an idea. An idea that in the midst of such suffering and tremendous need – after the 2010 Haiti earthquake – that I could actually make a difference with the little bit of schooling, passion and cultural sensitivity I had as an American of Haitian descent.
It took great courage to believe these things, as there were no shortage of reminders that I was ‘too’ young or ‘too’ idealistic to be taken seriously; much less the reality that I had been born woman and black in a world that constantly demonizes our brazen nature for misdirected or undue anger. At the same time, I knew that these were also my greatest assets. The nuanced perspectives that my vantage points afford me have allowed me to create opportunities for my firm and for myself that I would not have even known to pursue otherwise.
In this time of expansion and with a renewed sense of purpose in executing our vision, I could not be more thrilled to really see this idea come to fruition as we continually work with and on behalf of some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. I am also excited to have a brilliant core team and network of partners that enable me to better advance our work. Therefore, it is with much enthusiasm that we re-launch Pinchina Consulting as a women-led international urban planning firm, primarily of Caribbean descendants, that is committed to strengthening vulnerable communities – wherever they might be.
Stay tuned for our happenings, updates on our project communities, our events, and all that the future has in store for us and the lives we are grateful to impact through our work!
